Catherine N.'s Story

Catherine lives with her mother and grandmother. Catherine has experienced the harsh realities of life ever since her parents separated two years ago. Her mother, works tirelessly washing clothes for the people in community to earn a meager income to provide for Catherine and her siblings. The payments are never on time. Catherine remains committed to her education, walking approximately 3 kilometers to school every day whether it has rained or very hot.
Catherine’s father has never provided any support since the separation and this has left a significant gap in her life. However, Catherine’s mother and grandmother have become her pillars of strength, encouraging her to pursue her dreams.
Catherine is often times sent home due to unpaid fees which has hindered her concentration and stay in school.
