Vanessa N.'s Story

Vanessa lives in the slums with her widowed HIV positive mother, who owns a modest fresh food grocery store from which she supports her seven children and one granddaughter. The family lives in a one room, which is below the minimum standards of living. Vanessa one of the six girls lost their father in 2019 to HIV since then they have struggled to catch up with reality due to the financial and emotional hardships they are faced with. Vanessa was not able to attend school for two terms due to financial hardship. Vanessa wishes to continue with school despite the fact that her mother is not in position to help her get quality education.We believe with support from FCW Vanessa’s life would never be same again and this would generally impact on the family wellbeing and lighten the burden of care.
