Jennipher N.'s Story

Jennipher lives in Jinja with her mother; her father died in a terrible motor accident, leaving the mother with little assistance. They rent a modest room and struggle to pay their rent. Jennifer’s mother lacks a strong support structure and a stable career, lowering their level of living. Jennipher is at a high risk of child marriage because they live in the slums, and teenagers in this slum tend drop out of school tend to marry at an early age. Jennipher frequently misses class and tests due to her mother’s inability to pay school fees. Jennipher is extremely inconsistent in school for fear of being taken home owing to overdue school payments. Jennipher desires to be a doctor to improve the lives of the people in her community. We feel that if Jennipher is given an opportunity through sponsorship, the risks of child trafficking, school dropout, child marriage would be reduced in the life of this young girl.
