Abigail, the second of four children, lives with her parents who struggle to make ends meet. Her mother is a casual worker, while her father works as a potter on building sites to support the family. Despite his efforts, he is unable to fully support his children. Abigail often misses school due to financial constraints by her parentsAbigail and her siblings are participating in a perilous child labour of bottle collection and selling to help their parents earn an income. This type of child labour exposes Abigail to several abuses and risk as a young girl in the slums of Kampala. Supporting Abigail’s enrollment in school would help pull her out of the high-risk group, allowing her to get formal education while also benefiting from other programs such as discipleship and child protection.
