Mariam lives with her mother in Jinja District. Her parents separated and her father’s whereabouts are currently unknown. This forced Mariam and her mother to live with their extended family given the fact that they could not afford living on their own. Mariam’s mother was a teenager at the time she conceived Mariam. To earn some money, Mariam’s mother washes clothes for the people in the community, this comes with some disadvantages because sometimes she is not paid. This income is inconsistent and therefore struggles to cover even the basic necessities and educational needs of Mariam. We believe that if Mariam is given an opportunity through FCW sponsorship, her situation can improve, allowing Mariam to thrive and pursue her education and future aspirations. We therefore recommend Mariam for sponsorship.
