Loy lives with both parents and 5 siblings. This family lives in a one roomed hut which accommodates 6 children and 2 adults. Both her parents are subsistence farmers with no other sources of income.
The father has a substance use disorder and has neglected his family. The mother’s efforts to support this big family is evident but the burden is bigger. At every new school term, Loy and her siblings go back to school in phases with some children staying home for a month or more. This is because the mother can not afford school requirements for all of them at once.
At the time of assessment Loy had not yet reported back to school and she was identified as the most vulnerable to this condition inspite of her dream of becoming a doctor when she grows up.
We believe Loy can achieve this dream and contribute to the society’s health care system.
