Rehema N.'s Story

Rehema is a bright and determined young girl who dreams of becoming a medical doctor. She lives with her biological mother and stepfather. Since her parents separated, her biological father has not provided any support for her education or welfare.

Due to financial constraints, Rehema’s stepfather has been unable or unwilling to support her schooling. While his biological children attend school consistently, Rehema is often kept at home to do household chores. On the rare occasions she attends school, she is frequently sent away because of unpaid fees and the lack of basic school supplies. Her mother works on nearby farms to earn a small income, which is barely enough to cover the family’s essential needs.
