Joseph B.'s Story

Joseph lives with both of his parents in Ndeese Village, Mukono District. His father was once the primary provider for the family, but he suffered a serious spinal injury after falling from a roof during house construction. Since the accident, he has been unable to work, leaving the family without a stable income. Joseph’s mother now works on people’s farms to support the household, but her earnings are very limited.

Because of financial hardship, Joseph has been sent home from school multiple times due to unpaid fees, causing him to miss important classwork. He also lacks basic scholastic materials, and in 2025 he was unable to sit for his end-of-year examinations because outstanding school fees were not cleared. At times, Joseph must stay home to care for his younger siblings, further disrupting his education. Despite these challenges, Joseph dreams of becoming a professional engineer.
